As much as I am excited to roam at airports, seaports and train stations, the enjoyment and wonder about the dynamics of travelers there are some things that can definitely take you from your comfort zone
For me it is seeing or being approached by beggars,
Although I love to travel alone, often because of my last-minute changes, today I felt faintly weak and targeted, at the Milan Central Train Station, maybe this was a 55 or 60 year old woman, maybe not Italian, I was sitting In front of Juice Bar Restaurant has a delicious and warm sandwich, after two sentences, this lady approached from begging to get a piece of bread, to me and to the other group of people who ate by my side. She did not move and continued to ask for a piece of bread. She kept saying "Bread please, please." Needless to say, I could not swallow more stings, and also because her finger indicated that my part was about 1 cm away , I decided to give her a bread, so I lifted a sandwich 4 "long and offered it, looked at it, and to my surprise she did not accept it and say: Is this a fish?
Do not go, just take it, it is not a fish.
She put her fingers on her and would not take bloody sandwiches !!
The next girl starts talking to her, although all her friends told her not to,
This gentle lady tells her, there is no fish sandwich, insisted the beggar, yes yes sandwich fish. The gentle lady grab her bag, stand up and say "I'll buy you a sandwich" and then the moment of truth, the beggar said, no no, I'll buy it, give one euro please!
By that time, I had already left the sandwich. Grab my bags and walk walk away.
I felt cheated, angry, aggravated and worse than hungry!
How can we read through people who communicate for help?
How do we know if they are really hungry?
Should not we help those in need?
My trip at the station was not over, but I managed to continue my journey by train to my next hotel.
I fully believe that we must work to earn every EUR / USD, and I am glad to gladly help someone who sells flowers or water because they are making an effort at least instead of just extending a hand. The truth is that I swear every ten cents earned.
I know this is not a single story that may be happening to you all the time, but I can not stop wondering how I should react next time?
Such attitudes are why most people ignore them?
What would you do?
